Where the Wildlings Are | Black Sand Beach Continued | Vik, Iceland

While Markus and I were in Vik, all I wanted to do was see the popular basalt columns. They have been photographed many times and are a must-see attraction. As I stated in my previous post, we missed them. Although, we were able to see these incredible rock formations that were absolutley stunning. I will always regret not seeing the columns, but I'm grateful that we at least had a chance to visit the black sand beach and see these formations.

Where the Wildlings Are | Black Sand Beach | Vik, Iceland

One of the places I was most excited to see in Iceland was the black sand beach and basalt columns in Vik. When you research Iceland, the most common things that come up are waterfalls and black sand beaches. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend as much time as I wanted there.

Road tripping around Iceland is the best way to see the island, but it's easy to miss a few things. They only have one main highway that circles the entire country. It's easy to miss a few places if you're not paying attention, which happened to us. I thought that the basalt columns was further east, but in reality we were only a five minute drive away after this spot. It's okay though, Markus and I were still able to take some wonderful photos and explore a little bit of the black sand beach!

Where the Wildlings Are | Roadside Edition | Iceland

Markus and I spent most of the first day in Iceland stopping at every beautiful spot we came across. On the second day, we continued to pull over. Iceland is just too beautiful and we couldn't help ourselves. When you are continually seeing stunning landscapes, it would be a crime not to stop and take a moment.

Where the Wildlings Are | Mad Max Edition | Iceland

I've finally gotten around to editing our pictures from Iceland. I feel like with every new trip, Markus and I take even more pictures than the last.

These photos are from our first day. We spent the whole day driving from Reykjavik to the southern portion of the island. We were in such awe of the beautiful landscapes and scenery and kept pulling over. We probably could've traveled to our final destination in half the time, but we couldn't help ourselves. This wasn't even a famous tourist attraction, but we couldn't help ourselves when we saw the rocky terrain. We had to stop and snap a few photos!

Where The Wildlings Are | Green Planet Edition | Iceland

I promised myself that I would finish posting about Japan and begin San Francisco before I posted about Iceland. I took one look at these photos and couldn't help myself. Iceland is too beautiful and I had to share some of it's beauty. This can be a little amuse bouche to the other bajillion photos I will be posting some time in the future.

Since this year is our ten year wedding anniversary, we decided to travel to the one place we never thought we could afford, Iceland! We spent 14 glorious days driving the circumference of the island. We basically did everything our hearts desired and it was amazing. Iceland is definitely the most beautiful country we've ever been to and was a magical two weeks!

Apple Picking at County Line Orchard | Hobart, Indiana

Autumn came and went in such a hurry. I feel like I barely had the chance to enjoy cool evenings, sweater weather and pumpkin treats. A couple months ago, Markus and I drove to Indiana to County Line Orchard and pick some apples. It was my first experience at this Midwest tradition. There weren't many apples left, so we spent most of our time frolicking in cornfields and picking flowers. We had such a great time and can't wait to visit again next year!
